We are honored to invite you to participate in Art Beijing 2008, the 3rd consecutive international contemporary artfair of its kind.

This year is special for Beijing since it is where the 2008 Olympic Games will be held. To add luster to the Olympic Games, Art Beijing will be bigger and better than ever before. The fair joined “Meet in Beijing - 2008 Grand Culture Events for the Olympic Games“ and thereby became an ocial partner of the greatest sporting event in the world.

The four core principles of the fair have consistently been “taking Chinese contemporary art as the core”, “being completely Asian and yet engaged in the world”, “placing equal weight on academic and commercial considerations”, and “educating the public and acting in a socially responsible way”. The galleries who have the best contemporary Chinese artworks will be the highlight of the fair, and in keeping with the key idea of “being completely Asian”, we will make a concerted eort to invite galleries from Korea, Japan, India and the Middle East. The fair will therefore be a real platform for all contemporary Asian art. We expect 50% of the exhibitors to come from China, 30% from the other Asian countries, and 20% from Europe and America. Moreover, we plan to specially reserve a “Photo Space” in the exhibition hall for participating photo galleries.

Against the backdrop of the Asian photographic art market, Art Beijing 2008 will embark on a path of innovation, while further solidifying its “Asian concept”. On September 6 - 9, 2008, the Art Beijing Executive Committee will dedicate No. 5 Hall of National Agricultural Exhibition Center to hosting Photo Beijing, which will be a section specifically established for photographic art, a section that will boost its own brand new mechanism and identity. In due time, the Executive Committee will invite influential photographic art galleries from around the world to showcase the development in photographic art. Also to be invited will be important photographic art curators, who will be organizing a contemporary photographic art exhibition reflecting, from an academic viewpoint, world photographic art, in particular Asian photographic art. Photographic works of varying motifs will then on a free platform interact, mix and engage in a dialogue. Then there will be a fascinating dialogue between exhibitions by participating galleries and academic exhibitions。



The Art Economic Forum, an ongoing project of Art Beijing, will continue to invite international experts and scholars to discuss the development of the Asian art market. This year, we will cooperate with the Asia Art Forum (AAF), which will be held during the fair. The AAF is focused on the self-assessment of art journalism, the art market, and institutions and organizations in Asia. This forum sponsored by the China Minsheng Bank will be held annually, touring dierent cities in Asia. In addition to the two forums, Art Educational Courses will be continued this year.

We will bring better facilities and provide premium services in marketing, publicity, and VIP and guest relations. Now, more than ever before, we rmly believe exhibitors and collectors alike will be pleased with the results of participating in the fair.

Art Beijing 2008 will be one of the grand cultural events of the 2008 Olympic Games, presenting a rich program of the highest quality. The fair will fully show the vigorous development of contemporary art in China and Asia. This September, we hope to make Beijing the center of contemporary art activity in Asia!
